Alpharetta’s City Council Monday night approved installing upgraded lighting for a last stretch of Westside Parkway, a just-under-a-mile stretch from Old Milton Parkway to Webb Bridge Road near the Avalon mixed-used development. City officials said the more brilliant lighting enhancing motorist and pedestrian safety replaces a temporary system that had been in place since that stretch of road finished up about three years ago.

The parkway runs north and south west of Ga. 400 and has been aimed at relieving traffic on both the freeway and on Ga. 9.

Council members also approved upgrading the city’s public safety fleet, agreeing to purchase almost a dozen vehicles for roughly $289,000.
