Afternoon storms cause fires at apartments, home in Gwinnett

Gwinnett County firefighters are responding to fires at a house and an apartment complex that are believed to have been caused by afternoon storms.

One fire was reported at Chelsea 88 Apartments on Herrington Road in Duluth. The most damage occurred in the attic of a three-story apartment building, Channel 2 Action News reported. People from seven different apartment units may be displaced.
The other fire was reported at a home in the 5900 block of Morgan Road in Doraville.
Both fires are reported to have flames coming from roofs. No downed trees or wires had been reported as of 4:36 p.m.
Rain slammed Gwinnett County on Tuesday afternoon, with two inches falling in Buford and one inch falling in Lawrenceville before 5 p.m.
