A 55-year-old inmate, being held on murder and aggravated assault charges, died Thursday of complications from a chronic illness, according to Fulton County Jail officials.

The inmate was not identified because his relatives have not been notified. Jail officials also did not disclose the nature of his illness.

A spokeswoman said the man died at 4:55 p.m. at Grady Memorial Hospital.
