Atlanta police have arrested a fifth suspect in a shooting during a robbery outside a Howell Mill Road tavern early the day before.

Travion Cox turned himself in to police at the Zone 2 Precinct on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Earlier, the Atlanta police fugitive unit said they had picked up Arthur Hooten and Antonia Hooten in Ellenwood. Marion David Wheeler was arrested in College Park, and Franklin Plummer was arrested in Atlanta.

Police said they received a report shortly before 2 a.m. Monday about a shooting in the 1800 block of Howell Mill. An officer told Channel 2 Action News the incident occurred in the parking lot of Central City Tavern.

Another responding officer reported seeing a white Toyota occupied by five males speeding away from the location and running a red light at Defoors Road.

A few minutes later, Zone 2 Field Investigation Team members spotted the vehicle on Bolton Road and followed it until support units arrived, police said.

Officers surrounded the vehicle after it pulled into a Chevron gas station at 2020 Bolton, got the occupants out of the vehicle and saw a gun in plain view behind the driver’s seat, police said.

The shooting victim, meanwhile, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with a single gunshot wound to an armpit, police said. His condition was reported as stable.
