Crews filled more potholes than ever in DeKalb last year, but their work was a makeshift fix that didn't address the 417 miles of county roads in need of resurfacing.

DeKalb officials plan to ask voters in November to approve paying for new roads and other infrastructure with an additional 1 percent sales tax.

The special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) would raise DeKalb's sales tax rate to 8 percent, on par with the city of Atlanta and Clayton County.
