While competitive campaigns will be waged for in many DeKalb County elections, several incumbents have effectively won re-election before a single vote has been cast.

These candidates drew no opposition for either the May 24 primary or the Nov. 8 general election.

The uncontested candidates include Commissioner Nancy Jester, Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, Superior Court Clerk Debra DeBerry and all four of the State Court judges appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal last year to oversee traffic court.

In addition, several more judges don’t have opponents. They are Superior Court Judges Gregory Adams, J.P. Boulee, Linda Hunter, Mark Scott and Tangela Barrie; State Court Judges Janis Gordon, Stacey Hydrick, Mike Jacobs, Wayne Purdom; Probate Judge Jeryl Rosh and Chief Magistrate Berryl Anderson.

Meanwhile, many key races are contested this year, including for CEO, DeKalb Commission, district attorney and tax commissioner.
