Candidates are beginning to declare they're running for a DeKalb Commission super district that covers the eastern half the county and represents about 350,000 people.

A special election will be held Nov. 8 for the District 7 seat vacated when former Commissioner Stan Watson resigned last month to run for DeKalb tax commissioner.

Qualifying for the election is open from Monday through noon Wednesday at the DeKalb elections office at 4380 Memorial Drive. The qualifying fee is $1,151.24.
