Part of a mobile home park in Norcross was evacuated due to flooding.
No injuries were reported, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services spokesman Tommy Rutledge said. But residents at the Jones Mobile Home Park off Willow Trail Parkway were assisted in their evacuation by police and fire. The evacuation began around 11 a.m.
Peter Young, office manager at the park, said residents at 15 or 16 houses were evacuated when a nearby creek started to rise. There are 130 total homes at the park.
“People were inside the houses this morning,” Young said. “I don’t think the water was high enough to damage the houses.”
As of early Monday afternoon, Young said, it was “still sprinkling.” He did not know when people would be able to return to their homes.
There was some flooding at the park five years ago, he said, but no one was evacuated then.
Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said in an email that the property had “significant flooding.”
The rain has also caused some road closures in Gwinnett County.
Harbins Road is closed from Arrowind Road to Jay Way; Hillcrest Road is closed from Old Manor Road to Indian Trail Road and Brannan Road is closed from Leach Road.
