Ad deal between DeKalb and Gas South scrutinized

A deal between DeKalb County's government and Gas South allows the natural gas marketing company to use the county's logo when mailing advertisements to residents.

The company then pays DeKalb $12 for each customer who signs up, raising $91,307 for supplemental life insurance for police officers over the last two years.

But some residents say they’re concerned that it looks like the county is showing favoritism to one company and interfering in the free market.
