Woodward Academy junior Andy Sun, 16, earned a perfect score of 2400 on the SAT.

When he found out, he told Linda Stouffer of Channel 2 Action News, he wasn’t sure whether to believe it. “I was, like, ‘Is this showing you the maximum score or is this my actual score?’ I wasn’t entirely sure,” he said.

Only two-tenths of 1 percent of students earn a 2400 on the SAT in one sitting, according to data from the College Board, which administers the college-entrance test. Of more than 73,000 students in Georgia who took the SAT in 2014, 11 achieved the highest possible score.

Sun, a junior, has straight As and is taking five advanced-placement courses. His chemistry teacher, Mark Carrington said, “He brings to the table lots of different components that you see in various kids, but rarely find in one student. Andy is that student.”

He also excels at fencing, ranked second in the country in his age group, and competes in tournaments take him all over the world.
