Thousands of Gwinnett County students will begin taking the Georgia Milestones exams Monday.

The exams, designed by state education department officials, measure how students are doing in core subjects such as English, math, science and social studies for grades 3 through 8. High school students take assessments different more specific subjects, such as biology and U.S. history.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution analyzed last year’s results. Here’s a breakdown of which elementary and middle schools had the highest percentage of students who exceeded the standards or were proficient and above on the exams.
