Atlanta Public Schools officials announced Thursday afternoon that they expect school to be open Friday but are closely monitoring weather forecasts.

“Based on the information provided by the National Weather Service, APS schools will be open tomorrow, December 8. Based on the current forecast, we do not anticipate inclement weather until late tomorrow afternoon or early evening. We will continue to monitor the weather throughout the weekend and will provide an update should weather conditions impact after school or weekend activities,” the district said, in a written statement released just before 4 p.m. Thursday.
