DeKalb County schools start Monday, Aug. 8.

Here’s more information to help families navigate the DeKalb County School District:

Superintendent: Steve Green

The DeKalb County Board of Education appointed Green superintendent in 2015.

Green came to the district from the troubled Kansas City Public Schools, where he was responsible for helping shape a fledgling curriculum, tackling bad attendance and low test scores and returning the system to accreditation.

First day of school: Aug. 8. There will be a back-to-school resource fair Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 2260 Old Rex Morrow Road. Eligible students must pre-register for this event to determine eligibility for free uniforms and school supplies. Call 770-473-3250 to schedule an appointment for registration.
