Clark Atlanta University has named Marc Morial, president and CEO of the National Urban League, as its keynote speaker for the upcoming spring commencement on May 18.

Morial, who has also served as the mayor of New Orleans and a past president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, will address more than 700 graduates.

This will be the final commencement for Clark Atlanta President Carlton Brown, who will retire in June after seven years of leadership.

The commencement ceremony begins at 8 a.m. in Clark Atlanta’s Panther Stadium. A baccalaureate service is set for May 17 at 10 a.m. in the Epps Gymnasium. Rev. Byron Thomas, senior pastor of Ben Hill United Methodist Church is the keynote speaker.
