The University of Georgia will begin offering a graduate level law degree this fall.

The Master in the Study of Law is a non-thesis, 30-credit-hour degree for non-lawyers that can be completed in one year for full-time students, or over three years on a part-time basis. The degree will not qualify candidates to sit for the bar or for the practice of law, but will provide an understanding of basic legal principles, school officials said.

Prospective students must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution prior to enrollment.

Application deadline for fall 2014 is July 1. Enrollment and information: www.law.uga.edu/MSL, 706-542-5211
