Georgia Tech and Emory universities have again ranked in the top 100 colleges in the world, according to the latest global survey.

U.S. News and World Report, known for its annual best-colleges ranking, is out Tuesday with its 2016 edition of the Best Global Universities.

Georgia Tech ranks 64th, the highest for any Georgia institution. Emory ranks 70th.

The latest distinction for the two institutions follows other global rankings published last week by the London-based education magazine Times Higher Education. In those rankings, Georgia Tech ranked 41st; Emory tied with other institutions for 90th place.

In U.S. News' national survey of top colleges last month, Emory scored highest among Georgia institutions with a 21st-place ranking. Georgia Tech ranked 36th and the University of Georgia also made the top 100, with a 61st-place ranking.

Rankings of schools appearing on both global and national lists can vary widely, as the global rankings do not take into account factors like graduation and retention rates, scores on admissions tests and financial resources.

The second edition of U.S. News’ Global Universities rankings includes 750 universities — an increase from 500 schools last year — across 57 countries. The 2016 edition also ranks countries in subject areas. The rankings are based on 12 factors including universities’ global and regional reputations, academic research performance and school-level data on faculty and Ph.D. graduates.

The United States has the most universities in U.S. New’s top 750, with 181 schools, or 24.1 percent. China had the second most institutions on the list with 57, or 7.6 percent of the 750 ranked global universities.
