Student athletes from across metro Atlanta are bowling in the Special Olympics.

One-hundred-sixty Special Olympians from middle and high schools in Fulton County, Atlanta, Henry County, Butts County and Clayton County took part in a bowling event Monday at Citizens Lanes in Union City.

The Special Olympians trained for eight weeks in bowling, then attended the local event. Students bowled two games and received ribbons depending on how they placed.

After the event, some students will attend the 2016 Special Olympics Winter State Games in January.
