Some Georgia school districts do well with technology

Fourteen Georgia school districts, including DeKalb County, Decatur and Marietta, earned high rankings nationally for their use of technology to drive instruction this school year.

White County in North Georgia ranked number one nationally among mid-sized districts (3,000-12,000 students) because of strategies such as use of e-textbooks, teacher training and collaborative projects, including online courses with North Georgia University and 3D mapping with the county.

DeKalb ranked ninth among large districts inside the Perimeter. Decatur was fifth among mid-sized districts. Among suburbs farther from Atlanta, there was Marietta at seventh among mid-sized districts and, among those with at least 12,000 students, Forsyth at fifth and Cherokee at 10th.

The rankings come from the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association, which collaborate on the annual Digital School Districts Survey, now in its 12th year.
