Reinhardt University in Cherokee County received a $1 million gift from Dr. Austin and Bea Flint, who have long-standing and strong ties to Waleska and the school.

In 1969 they purchased land near the center of town and the Reinhardt campus as a “retreat” from the city. Bea Flint also taught English for 12 years at the school. Austin Flint practiced medicine in the region for many years.

The $1 million will pay for current capital projects and support a new endowed scholarship for music students. The school will name the concert hall in the Falany Performing Arts Center after the Flints.

The capital projects portion of their gift provides the largest gift to date for the building of a new theater building.
