Proposal to move DeKalb magnet program draws ire

Some DeKalb parents and community members have recommended moving Chamblee High School’s magnet program to Southwest DeKalb High School.

Moving the program would free up seats in the overcrowded schools in the attendance zone.

But some parents say relocating the magnet programs would end that popular program because many of its students would not move to a school far away.

The proposal was one of many that recommendations that DeKalb's school board is considering in its efforts to solving a looming crowding problem. You can read what else they recommended in our story on myajc.com.
