The Atlanta school board filled nine of the city’s 19 open principal positions Monday.

The board voted unanimously for the appointments of these principals, who will take leadership of their schools starting July 1, just before incoming Superintendent Meria Carstarphen begins her job July 7.

The new principals are:

Tracie Astin, South Atlanta High, School of Computer Animation & Design

Betsy Bockman, Inman Middle

Amia Burnette, Bethune Elementary

Charlotte Davis, South Atlanta High, School of Law & Social Justice

Patricia Ford, South Atlanta High, School of Health & Medical Science

Laryn Nelson, Young Middle

Thalise Perry, Miles Elementary

Cheryl Twyman, Fickett Elementary

Mario Watkins, Bunche Middle
