Atlanta College and Career Academy was named one of Georgia’s newest college and career academies Thursday.

The announcement came with a $3.3 million grant from the Technical College System of Georgia. The grant will cover construction, instructional materials and staff training.

The school will serve students in Atlanta and in Fulton and Clayton counties.

Georgia’s 37 college and career academies partner local school systems with the state’s technical colleges, other post-secondary institutions and local businesses. The academies offer high school and post-secondary programs to train students for high-demand jobs.

“The Atlanta College and Career Academy aligns with our mission that every student will graduate ready for college and career, and enhances our efforts to expose our high school students to a college preparatory, career and technical curriculum,” Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen said in a written statement.
