A dozen Allstate professionals in metro Atlanta used $12,000 they received from the Allstate Foundation to provide books for students in the area.
Officials said the $12,000 was from the Allstate Foundation’s Helping Hands grant, used to improve communities through causes they care about. Books were distributed to students at Benteen Elementary School, part of Atlanta Public Schools.
“Giving back is core to who we are,” said Bob Holden, Allstate field senior vice president, “which is why we’re proud to volunteer and raise funds to improve the lives of people across Atlanta.”
The money will go to Books for Keeps, which works to provide books for children from low-income families. The Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and licensed sales professionals earned $1,000 each by participating in a Books for Keeps program to stop the summer reading decline.
Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and licensed sales professionals who participated include:
Scott Beaver, Watkinsville
Kevin Christian, Athens
Penn Hurst, Athens
Vicki Hutchins, Atlanta
Arlisher Jones, Atlanta
Lashay Jones, Atlanta
Melanie Lumpkin, Woodstock
