A 7th grader at Walker School in Marietta will represent Georgia at the upcoming 27th annual National Georgraphic Bee in Washington D.C.

Vibhav Kanyadan, 12, is one of 54 students remaining in the national championship, culled from millions of participants.

The top 10 finalists will compete in the May 13 championship round, which will be taped to air on the National Geographic Channel May 15, and later on other television stations.

Kanyadan's interest in geography was stimulated by his love of maps and commercial aircraft, according to his biography on the National Geographic website. He hopes one day to start his own airline company to fly to inaccessible places. And he'd like to start a geography club at his school.
