University System of Georgia administrator Houston Davis has been named interim president of Kennesaw State University.

The announcement, from system Chancellor Hank Huckaby late Thursday, comes two weeks after longtime president Dan Papp abruptly announced his retirement from the university.

Papp had been president of Kennesaw State for 10 years. His retirement is effective June 30.

Davis currently serves as the system’s chief academic officer and executive vice chancellor, positions he’s held since February 2012.
