A school in Hall County has been identified as one of the nation’s 10 most healthy by a group that combats obesity by encouraging exercise and careful food selections.

The Spout Springs School of Enrichment in Flowery Branch is the first elementary school in the southeastern United States to be named among the healthiest by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, which was founded a decade ago by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation in response to a growing child obesity rate.

The school restricts outside food for parties and in the cafeteria and has incorporated fitness into daily activities through teacher-led fitness breaks and Nintendo Wii breaks on rainy days, the Alliance said.
