Gwinnett County school board members are scheduled Thursday to vote on a redistricting plan that could result in about 14,000 students attending new or different schools at the start of the 2015-16 school year.

Gwinnett administrators changed the proposed boundary lines of some schools earlier this week and posted the revisions on the district's website. Some parents said the adjustments still do not adequately address overcrowding.

Peachtree Elementary School parent Terri Stalker wants Gwinnett to support a plan that would move an additional 175 students from the school, which currently has about 1,800 students and is one of the district’s highest-populated elementary schools. The current plan, she said, would only transfer about 90 students.

“(The) map has still not been revised to address the severe overcrowding at Peachtree Elementary, in spite of all input from the community. This situation cannot wait until 2017, when a new elementary school is scheduled to come on board,” said Stalker.

Gwinnett has scheduled a public hearing about the redistricting plans from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at its headquarters, 437 Old Peachtree Rd. NW in Suwanee. The board will vote on the plan during its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday.
