Some Gwinnett County students who called a fellow student wearing a turban a “terrorist” have been disciplined, district officials said.

The incident took place on Feb. 23, said district spokeswoman Sloan Roach. A 45-second video of the incident shows a girl smiling and yelling "terrorist" at the boy on a school bus. Other students are pointing at the boy in the video, but it is unclear what they're saying to him.

The boy said at one point “kids being racist to me.” He later cursed at them.

The students attend Duluth Middle School.

Duluth Middle School officials said they became aware of the video on Monday and began an investigation. Gwinnett officials would not describe the disciplinary action taken against the students and did not identify the students involved.

The students had been involved in a series of back-and-forth name-calling incidents, Roach said.
