A team of students from R.D. Head Elementary in Gwinnett County just returned from a trip to Silicon Valley in California after winning a national robotics competition.

The six students met with developers at Google, Facebook and EA Games and learned about careers in the science and technology fields. They also toured Universal Studios and NASA in Los Angeles.

The team programmed a Dash robot to move across a design on the floor, in simulation of how robots could be programmed to work in space. With diverse interests in science and math as well as art and video production, they were able to work well together and play to individual strengths. They are the winners of the Best Picture prize for most Oscar-worthy video. You can see the video they made about their robotics project here.
