Gwinnett middle school evacuated

March 18, 2015

A Gwinnett County middle school was without power Wednesday after a nearby transformer exploded, school officials said.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly before noon, said Gwinnett school district spokeswoman Sloan Roach.

Students at Twin Rivers Middle School were taken to Mountain View High School. Roach said the Twin Rivers students will likely have lunch at the high school.

Gwinnett maintenance workers are at Twin Rivers to help restore electricity at the school.
