State leaders gathered Tuesday in Warner Robins for the groundbreaking of a new $10 million academic training center for Georgia’s military members transitioning to civilian careers.

The 32,000-square-foot training center, located on 44 acres of donated land directly across from Robins Air Force Base, will also serve families of state military members. The center is a partnership between the state’s University and Technical College systems, and it will provide help with education, credit transfer, training and job placement. Veterans will receive individual help from both Central Georgia Technical College and Middle Georgia State College to ensure their military training and service is recognized.

The center will also support Gov. Nathan Deal’s Complete College Georgia Initiative, which has a goal of increasing the percentage of Georgians completing some level of college from 42 percent to 60 percent by 2020.
