Grady High School Latin Teacher J. Scott Allen has been named Atlanta Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

The other Teacher of the Year finalists were Grove Park Grove Park Intermediate Elementary School teacher Dennis Toliver and Sylvan Hills Middle School teacher Travis Brown.

The teachers are judged based on their “accomplishments, work history, community service and professional honors. “

Other Atlanta staff honored this year include Principal of the Year Trennis Harvey of Heritage Academy; Assistant Principal of the Year Lakeesha Ramdhanie of KIPP STRIVE Primary School; transportation supervisor Sheral Kemp-Mizell, who received the Schools First Award; and Long Middle School instructional coach Tiarra Moore, who received the Students First Award.
