Nearly all 11th-graders passed the state writing test, according to results released Tuesday by the Georgia Department of Education.

The department did not release district- or school-level results.

Ninety-six percent of all-11th graders who took the Georgia High School Writing Test for the first time in 2014 passed, a five percentage point increase since 2009.

Passing rates also rose for special education students and Asian, black, Hispanic and white students.

This marked the last full administration of the high school writing test, which will be replaced this year by new tests called the Georgia Milestones.
