Parents enrolling new Fulton County students next year should find the process easier with the school district’s new online registration system, education officials say.

Fulton schools have implemented an online system parents can use for their child’s registration information and to confidentially upload scans or PDFs of forms such as birth certificates or immunization records.

The system also uses the information to determine the student’s neighborhood school and can forward it directly to the school, where parents complete the registration process.

School officials are trying to make enrollment easier for parents. The process to register a new student can be time-consuming as specialized documents must be presented in person to confirm authenticity.

“This process makes student registration more convenient for parents,” said Myra Guy, Fulton’s executive director of enterprise applications and information, in a released statement. “Although parents still have to make one final stop at the school to complete the registration process, this will trim the waiting time tremendously.”

Eight schools piloted the online registration system this spring. Results were positive, and the district decided to expand it systemwide in time for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten spring registration May 6-7.

The online enrollment system is provided in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese. Paper forms are still available for parents without computer or internet access, or they can use a computer at the school to begin the registration process.
