Fulton County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, "out of an abundance of caution" because of weather reports.

“...(A)ll schools and central offices within the Fulton County School System will open on a two-hour delay tomorrow, December 11, in alignment with Governor Deal's announcement that state offices will open late. The National Weather Service has warned that several metro Atlanta counties may have black ice on roads as temperatures drop below freezing early morning,” the district said, in a news release issued just after 4 p.m. Monday.

“Buses will operate on a two-hour delay, meaning that if a bus normally arrives at the bus stop at 6:45 a.m., it will arrive at 8:45 a.m. Although there is a two-hour start delay, the school day will end at its normal time. Employees should arrive to work no later than two hours from their scheduled start time,” the district statement said.

The district also announced it had canceled the monthly community meetings that had been planned Tuesday for school board members Katie Reeves and Julia Bernath.

Other school districts with a delayed start Tuesday include: Cobb County, Hall County, Gilmer County and Haralson County schools.
