Fulton County schools are serving free meals at more than 30 school locations across the county as part of the district’s annual “Summer Feeding Program.”

The program is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s efforts to curb child hunger. Each summer, the USDA partners with local organizations like Fulton schools to provide free meals to children when school is out.

Nationwide, more than 3.2 million low-income children participated in the summer feeding programs last July. Any child under age 18 may come and eat a summer meal.

“For many families, schools are the one place their children can get a nutritious meal,” said Alyssia Wright, executive director of Fulton’s School Nutrition Program. “Our summer feeding program allows communities to continue feeding children when school is not in session.”
