The Fulton County school board has approved instructional materials for teaching Algebra I and Geometry.

The textbooks, offered in both print and digital versions, are published by McGraw-Hill. School board members approved them at a meeting Wednesday evening, following a public input period where the materials were placed in all high schools for parents and teachers to review and provide feedback.

The Algebra I and Geometry materials will continue to be on display throughout the summer in high schools operating a summer school program.

These high schools are: Banneker, Centennial, Langston Hughes, McClarin, Milton, Northview, Riverwood International Charter, Tri-Cities and Westlake.

A longtime proponent of more "traditionally taught" math instruction rather than the "integrated" approach, Fulton County Schools now offers traditional math courses in all high schools. The selected materials go into effect beginning with the 2015-2016 school year.
