Two DeKalb County high school seniors were named Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education.

Dunwoody High School’s Samantha Brewer and Eunice Garcia of Clarkston High School were among the 183 students recognized by GaDOE’s Excellence Recognition Office for the honor Wednesday.

Seniors must exhibit excellence at school, home and in the community, according to the honor’s requirements.

"Students in DeKalb are among the best of the best,” Superintendent Steve Green said in a press release celebrating the district’s honored students. “Samantha and Eunice are proof positive of this belief, and we are pleased to celebrate this honor along with their schools and loved ones."

The Georgia Scholars will receive a special seal on their high school diplomas.
