A former DeKalb County principal accused of instructing teachers to cheat on 2009 state tests pleaded guilty to multiple charges today.

Former Cedar Grove Middle School Principal Agnes Flanagan was indicted in 2013 and faced three counts each of forgery, making a false statement and public-records fraud.

She pleaded guilty to a total of six charges and was sentenced to five years probation. She must also pay a $6,000 fine and complete 200 hours of community service.

In court today, Flanagan said she assumed “total responsibility” for telling school staff to change answers on the state tests.

“The pressure directed by the DeKalb County school administration of all students meeting Annual Yearly Progress overshadowed my professional responsibility and character,” she said.
