A federal law called the Clery Act requires the nation’s colleges and universities to release crime data by Oct. 1 for the most recent three years in a report that includes efforts to improve safety. The University of Georgia, which has about 37,000 students, has a report with detailed data on crimes ranging from sexual assault to criminal damage.
