A DeKalb County School District school is among nine across the country that will interact with International Space Station astronauts.
Kittredge Magnet School students will contact the astronauts by amateur radio on Feb. 24, district officials said. Sixth-grade teacher Charamie Dunlap is working with the North Fulton Amateur Radio League to make the conversation happen, part of the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station program, which promotes learning opportunities through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
Amateur Radio on the International Space Station is a joint venture by NASA, The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space, the American Radio Relay League and the Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation, which work to engage students and communities across the country with the International Space Station astronauts.
