DeKalb County schools had one of highest instances of threats and intimidation by students in the in the 2014-15 school year in metro Atlanta, according to Georgia Department of Education.

There were 1,792 reported incidents that resulted in disciplinary action in DeKalb, the second-highest number among metro Atlanta school districts. Gwinnett County schools had the highest with 3,520.

The state’s definition of threats and intimidation is “unlawfully placing another person in fear of bodily harm through verbal threats without displaying a weapon or subjecting the person to actual physical attack.”

Threats and intimidation are among a list of other disciplinary incidents in schools in metro Atlanta compiled in a searchable database by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, as part of a recent report on school security.
