DeKalb County School District officials said late Sunday they were canceling classes Monday due to inclement weather, as forecasters expect freezing rain to greet morning commuters.

A wintry mix of freezing rain or other ice could hit early, but the weather is expected to rise to about 41 degrees into the afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News weather.

The district also canceled its monthly board meeting. That meeting already had been scheduled an hour earlier, to avoid conflicts with the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Atlanta Monday night.

Metro Atlanta school systems began canceling classes early Sunday evening, with the forecast potentially mixing with game traffic. President Donald Trump said he would attend Monday night's game as well, throwing another wrench into Atlanta's already treacherous traffic.
