In the last year, 915 DeKalb County teachers resigned for various reasons. That’s more in one year that the district has seen since online data collection began for the 2001 school year.

DeKalb County School District officials have touted raises, retention bonuses and reorganization as they try to boost morale within the improving district.

Officials have announced signing and retention bonuses, as well as three raises for some teachers in the last year. Leo Brown, the district’s chief human capital officer, said recently that retirements were the leading cause of teacher attrition. Information compiled by his office has shown otherwise.
