Cobb County school board members have voted to give Superintendent Chris Ragsdale a contract extension and raise.

Ragsdale's contract was extended to March 23, 2019 following the board's unanimous approval at a meeting Thursday. Appointed Cobb's superintendent in February 2015, Ragsdale's contract states he receives a base annual salary of $275,000.

The amendment to Ragsdale’s contract ok’d by board members Thursday says his base annual salary shall increase by $10,000 on each March 30 during the term of his contract, “so long as the superintendent receives a satisfactory evaluation from the board for that year,” according to the amended contract.

Ragsdale, who has a background in information technology and was Cobb's deputy superintendent for operations, replaced outgoing Superintendent Michael Hinojosa.
