Clark Atlanta University will host a community meeting Wednesday to discuss campus safety, particularly in the Atlanta University Center area.

The meeting, led by Clark Atlanta president Ronald Johnson and Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority chairman Thomas Dortch Jr., will also feature campus police chiefs and representatives from the Atlanta City Council and Fulton County Commission.

Atlanta University Center students — from Clark Atlanta, Morehouse and Spelman colleges — have been the victims of numerous crimes on and near their campuses, including armed robberies and shootings. Students at the schools have petitioned their administrators to make their campuses and the surrounding communities safer.

The Jan. 20 forum is free and open to the public, and will be moderated by radio personality Ryan Cameron and retired judge Penny Brown Reynolds.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Clark Atlanta’s Henderson Student Center.
