Cherokee schools begin classes

Cherokee County schools started classes Monday, Aug. 1, under its first fill year under new Superintendent Brian V. Hightower. He began his tenure as Superintendent of Schools for the Cherokee County School District on Feb. 1, 2016 after 30 years of service as a teacher and administrator.

The Cherokee system has 41 schools and centers, 4,500 employees and more than 41,000 students.

Most school systems will start later this week or next week. Cherokee County.
