The Buford City Schools Board of Education approved the final payment for the new Buford High School during its regular board meeting on Monday, Jan. 27.

The total for the completed project, which includes three buildings (Academic, Performing Arts, and Athletics) as well as the athletic structures and turf fields, is $86,233,008.

Charles Black Construction managed the project and received the first payment in December of 2016. The school district made 67 payments to the contractor, the largest of $4,981,117 on Sept. 25. The smallest was $20,914 in April of 2019.

“Now the city of Buford owns the high school outright,” Board Chairmen Phillip Beard told the audience Monday.
