Atlanta’s next school superintendent will probably be picked in February by the city’s newly elected school board, said the chairwoman of the Superintendent Search Committee during a meeting Thursday.

Chairwoman Ann Cramer said the current school board will review a short list of candidates to pass on to the next board, which takes office in January.

The search has contacted more than 400 sources and potential candidates, and meetings have been held with at least 20 people, said Sam Pettway, founder of BoardWalk Consulting, one of the companies running the search.
