There’s nourishment for your body, and there’s nourishment for your mind.

Atlanta families picking up food for the week from school sites can now get books, too.

Atlanta Public Schools is distributing children’s books alongside a week’s worth off food at its eight distribution sites, which are open from 10 a.m. to noon on Mondays.

The district’s media services department purchased books for families to read at home.

Superintendent Meria Carstarphen announced in her weekly memo to parents that each site will have about 150 books to give away. They will be sorted based on grade levels, and students can pick their book of choice.

The books will be distributed weekly at food sites through May 18. The district’s last day of distance learning is May 22.
